Rain Garden
Bryn Mawr PA

Our client had a typical problem in one area of her property that was receiving all the runoff from the upper yard. The result was a bare slope that was slowly eroding. Our solution was to create a stormwater strategy that would slow the water down (to allow for infiltration) and install plants that could thrive in these conditions.  From the top to the bottom of the slope, we created a rifle-pool sequence which mimics the structure of a stream. The rifles are shallow and lined with gravel. They follow the course of a stream, interrupted by shallow depressions or pools. The area was then planted with perennials that can withstand both wet and dry soils since the area is moist only during rain events. Our solution was to create a vibrant new garden for our client in an area that was once just a bare dirt hill.
